Pirates Play Marbles

Shiver me timbers, we’ve been losing our marbles to pirates! Whilst we are glad they like our game, we’re disappointed they aren’t willing to pay for it.

Just because you ‘want’ something doesn’t mean you have a right to steal it. Pirates are ruining the experience for everyone by putting developers out of business. If they continue, it won’t be long before there aren’t any fun new games for anyone.

What’s even more distressing is that they are actively encouraging others to join the pirate ranks. They are stealing games, distributing them to strangers and asking for donations to their cause. They are portraying themselves as modern day “heroes” doing the world a service, in a vain attempt to legitimize theft. There are real heroes in this world who are far more worthy of the public’s attention and donations.

Pirates insist that they are basically honest and will pay for the games they like, so we want to see if that’s true. Our message is simple, if you insist on stealing our game and like it, please make a donation, not to us but to a worthy marbles cause – American Marbles.

American Marbles is a small organization run by a true unsung hero, Marvin George, who’s been promoting marbles matches as a healthy outlet for kids for more than two decades. Marvin George is president of the American Marble Tournament, which awards scholarships to kids between the ages of 8 to 14, each year during the month of June. Mr. George, reasons that the youth of today would be well served if they played more marbles. He said, “Kids, especially in elementary school, need to learn about winning and losing, to experience what it’s like to lose and to practice.” He’s using marbles to help children develop social skills and to try and keep them away from bad influences.

Darkside Entertainment supports Mr. George and recognizes that the need for play is a serious issue. Psychologists are warning that diminished time to play amongst our children is producing a generation of socially inept young people and the consequences are potentially dire. Play is an emotional endeavor that shapes the architecture of the brain; it’s been proved that it’s necessary for the development and maintenance of social awareness, cooperation, fairness and altruism. Something most pirates seem to be lacking. Perhaps if today’s pirates had played marbles when they were kids, they wouldn’t be pirates now.

If you like Play Marbles and haven’t paid to play it please donate to American Marbles at www.marbles.net

Play Marbles is a family game that promotes the traditional spirit of marbles, which is good sportsmanship and fair play. The only place to legitimately obtain Play Marbles is through the iTunes App Store.
